Part of the Bikes & Bloomers project involved collaborating with Alice Angus, an artist who visually rendered some of the stories that emerged in our research in her drawings. She worked with us in the office/studio to interpret our archival research, discussion and methodological practice into her artwork. Her drawings were digitally printed onto silk and sewn into the costumes.
They are revealed when the costumes are converted from conventional dress into inventive cycle wear. And, in the process the costumes become multi-layered multi-dimensional story telling devices. More about this collaboration is on the project website.
